"Comment to get the link" DM template
Ready-to-use Instagram DM templates for "comment LINK to get the link" posts, in English and Hinglish, with setup steps and common mistakes.
Available free during Early Access. Messaging rules and technical limits apply.
When to use the comment to get the link dm template
Instagram captions and comments cannot hold clickable links, so "comment LINK" has become the standard way to share one. The DM that follows should say what the link is, in one line, and put the link on a button instead of pasting a long URL.
- You promote a product page, a video, a blog post or a booking page from a Reel.
- You want the link to reach each person privately instead of asking them to visit your bio.
- You need a simple automation to start with before building a longer flow.
Keyword ideas for the trigger (up to 20 per automation):
- LINK
- LINKS
- SEND
- SHOP
- URL

Set it up in InboxLoop
Flow used: Comment to DM. InboxLoop is free during Early Access, with unlimited automations.
- Create a Comment to DM automation and pick the Reel or post you are promoting.
- Add LINK plus the variations people type, such as LINKS and URL.
- Add public reply variations that tell people where to look.
- Use an opening message with a short button, then put the link in the main DM as a link button. Buttons must be HTTPS and can have up to 30 characters of label.
- Turn on link tracking for the button if you want to see who clicked, then test with a second account.
Mistakes to avoid
- Pasting a long URL into the text. A button reads better and can be tracked.
- A caption that says LINK while the automation listens for SHOP. Match them exactly.
- Linking to your homepage. Send people to the exact page from the Reel.
- Forgetting old Reels. Update the link when an offer ends or a product sells out.
Using an official tool does not remove the need to follow Meta's messaging rules. Read our automation safety guide before you publish.

No. Links in captions and comments are not clickable, which is why the link is sent by DM. See our guide on how to send a link when someone comments on Instagram for the full explanation.
How many links can one DM have?
Up to three link buttons in InboxLoop. For more choices, use a product carousel with up to 10 cards.
Will the DM go to message requests?
If the person does not follow you, it can. Mention this in your public reply so they know where to look.
